Why is change needed?

Raising twins or triplets is more difficult in the UK than almost any other advanced OECD economy, because there's so little additional support. Families with multiples face at least a £20,000 financial hit in the first year after birth, compared with having two babies in succession.

Our groundbreaking State of the Nation research examines the experiences of multiple birth parents and families. Its findings present a compelling case for policy intervention to provide better support to our community and informs the issues that we campaign for on your behalf.

What needs to change?

So much needs to change to make the UK a better place for families with multiples. Through our experiences of life with multiples and by talking to families every day, we understand the issues. As the only charity for twins, triplets and more in the UK, we're committed to pushing for change and improving things for our community.

Major issues
Providing fairer maternity pay for multiples

Maternity pay remains the same regardless of whether parents have one or multiple babies. This must change.

Reforming childcare

High quality early education and childcare provides children with the foundations for lifelong success.

Reducing neonatal deaths and stillbirths

Year after year, evidence mounts that people having twins, triplets or more have worse pregnancy outcomes than those having one baby.

Creating a more accessible world for multiples

Double shopping trollies are few and far between and our families feel that they're not welcome in their local community.

Ensuring suitable housing for triplet families

Ground floor social housing allocations for triplet families is essential, primarily for safety and accessibility reasons.

Preventing unwanted separation of multiples in school

The practice of splitting multiples in school can have significant impacts on their psychological and academic wellbeing.
